ABOUT THIS RECIPE

Say goodbye to single-use energy gels! I use this recipe to fuel 90% of my runs (even raves for long nights of dancing! It's super simple, saves so much waste, and is much more affordable than $4 per gel pack.

Ingredients

This recipe is done as a ratio adjustable to any container size (example given for a 150ml soft flask)

2/3 parts Maple Syrup (eg. 100ml)

1/3 parts Water (eg. 50ml)

Pinch of Salt (Himalayan is best)

OPTIONAL:

a few tsp Chia Seeds for longer-lasting energy (eg 2-3 tsp)

Preparation

  1. Mix all ingredients into a reusable squish bottle (eg. HydraPak SoftFlasks, or reusable shampoo-type bottles)

  2. Shake well & away you go!

TIPS:

  • If you're not keen on the crunch of chia seeds, make this a couple hours ahead of time to let them soften.

  • HydraPack SoftFlasks have a couple types of lids. The narrow twist-open is best for gel without chia to prevent spillage. The wide flip-open is best for gel with chia to prevent clogging.
